CareerLaunch is Boys & Girls Club of America’s job-readiness and career preparation program for teens. It provides fun and interactive activities for youth ages 13 to 18 to explore a broad range of career areas, match their interest to career clusters, and identify the skills and education needed for their particular career path. CareerLaunch is designed to support youth in preparing for their first job, internships, summer employment and so much more!

With the help of Fertile Ground, Green Connections provided education to the participants of the Boys & Girls Club of Norman’s Inaugural CareerLaunch Program on April 26th, 2021. Fertile Ground worker-owners talked with participants about the worker-owned cooperative model, and led a discussion about finding passion, purpose, and motivation. The Norman Boys & Girls Club has a therapeutic garden program that incorporates meditation and intentionality, so Fertile Ground enriched the garden with compost donated by their residential customers. After the discussion, the participants went to the garden to pull weeds and apply compost while talking about the benefits of compost for plants, our food, and the environment. The kids loved getting their hands in the dirt and working together to make their garden even more beautiful.
